Dear Bush Hill Elementary School Community,

I am thrilled and honored to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Bush Hill Elementary School. My name is Daisy Gomes and I am excited to join this wonderful school community and contribute to building an environment where students, families, and staff feel welcomed and supported. Building genuine relationships is at the heart of my approach and I am committed to fostering a sense of belonging for everyone in our school community.

I have had the privilege of working in various educational settings throughout Fairfax County, including Herndon Middle School, Carl Sandburg Middle School, Laurel Ridge Elementary School - Extended School Year, and Key Middle School. Being a native Portuguese and fluent Spanish speaker has allowed me to work with families across our diverse communities to foster stronger connections between home and school life, which results in more support for the students. During my experiences, I have led initiatives such as establishing school-wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, enhancing comprehensive school counseling programs, and serving as the ESOL School Counselor. 

Education is my passion, and I have pursued my academic journey to better serve our students. I graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, with minors in Spanish and Substance Abuse Intervention. I also have a master's degree in Counseling from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. Most recently, I attained my Administration and Supervision Certification from the University of Virginia through Fairfax County Public School’s Accelerated Certification Cohort.   

I enjoy spending quality time with my family, which includes my husband, son, daughter, and our two pets, a dog and a bird. As a family, we enjoy creating lasting memories through travel, spending time at Lake Anna, and exploring the outdoors. In my free time, I love to cook delicious meals (including homemade pizza), read novels, and I am learning how to grow a vegetable garden.

I am truly excited to be part of the Bush Hill Elementary School community and work collaboratively with our talented educators, dedicated families, and exceptional students. Together, we will create a supportive and engaging environment that fosters growth, learning, and success!
